Gotta Sneeze rested her head on the ground. Seeing a human, she tried standing up, she was still laying down, smelling her feeder, showing that she needed food.
LaLoone started weaving in her stall. She was bored lonely and wanted to see the mare on the other side. She started to lowly nicker to the mare. She was new to these stables well she never stayed very long at any stables going from hand to hand.
Saera approached the stall of two unfamiliar horses, peering in to confirm the emptiness of their feed boxes. "Hang on," she told them ardently, and returned with a promising amount of grain and hay in a wheelbarrow. Depositing the portions as needed, the tool was placed to where it was originally and the girl locked both stall doors securely.
Gotta Sneeze tried her hardest to reach the feeder, stretching her legs. She ate whatever it was in her feeder. She turned to the human again. Nodded her head, her mane was everywhere. She shook her head. She said thank you and now she was more active and more happy.
LaLoone curiously sniffed the contents the human had left behind and snorted on the feed. She was not hungry just bored. Her body was tensed, her ears were at full attention, and sniffed the air as a dog passed by. If only she could run around in an open pasture it was tiresome just being led from a stall or to a tiny muddy pen that she had to constantly move around in or face sinking in the squalor. It had been awhile since she had grass beneath her hooves.
Saera nodded her head to the dun mare, and turned now to the bi-coloured Arab beside her. "Hey, girl," reverberated from the barn walls softly in echoing symphonies. If the horses were eager to escape their stalls, the feline saw no reason in denying them their freedom. The girl picked up a lead line, a definite promise of pasture time.
LaLoone quickly retreated her muzzle from between the bars fearing the human would whip her. She circled to the back of her stall warily hoping the human would just pass her by. Maybe when she was gone she would try the latch again the air outside fresh from the finished rainstorm was so enticing. Wet grass the smell was an aphrodisiac.
Saera immediately noticed the Arabian's distress, and dropped her hands to her sides inoffensively in an attempt to regain the mare's confidence. "It's all right," she assured her in a calm, collected voice. Her wing scape, being intimidating at its full width, was hidden behind her back. A sugar cube was offered to the horse, her flat palm sliding toward the bars and stopping, quite gradually, at nose level.
LaLoone circled some more in her stall and faced the human who had a sugar cube in her hand. What was this? she jerked her head her icy blue eyes wide with distrust but temptation also. Dare she take the treat offered. One hoof stepped forward hesitantly stretching her swan neck to sniff the cube. With a quick movement she delicately took the sugar from the hand and stepped back watching the human as she munched on the treat.
Gotta Sneeze got up, shook the loss hair from her coat. Feeling really good after a roll/sleep. Walked towards the bars, she could smell the sugar cube in the humans hands. She wasn't scared of them, so with using her braveness she snatched the sugar cube away from the girls hand and chewed it as she turned away from the persons reach. She was quite happy.
( Sneeze left at this point. )
Saera opened the stall door with great care, grabbing the grooming kit on her way inside. Realistically, a cautious horse like the Arab would not be comfortable with the feline leading her outside if she was tentative to snag the treat. Sae would have to first introduce herself properly, and perhaps calm the situation with the only means she had-- her curry comb.
LaLoone stood in the corner tentatively watching the feline come in her stall door with some other objects. She recognized ones smell it was a bristly thing that would feel so good for her itching. She lowered her head and watched the feline then flared her pink nostrils at the bucket she was holding. Loone even considered quickly running past the feline as she entered. She had done it once maybe she could do it again and get out.
Saera made every move a cautious one and every breath a calculated one. She would attempt to make no mistake in gaining the trust, if not only acceptance, of this mare. With ease, a smile stole across her face, and immediately her features were lit in a friendly light. The outgoing girl set the grooming box on the stall floor, reached between the bars to secure the latch, and held out her hand with the treat in the center of her palm.
LaLoone eyes moved from the stall door to the felines hand where another treat was. She forgot the door and took the treat from her hand licking the left over sugar taste with her soft tongue. She calmly walked to another corner and watched patiently. This person did not have a whip or anything to hit her with she seemed for now harmless. However for now her crystalline eyes still watched and waited.
Saera's face was graced with another dainty smile, and this time it was the comb she offered the mare in her hand. Her hand was snug against the top of the brush, where a handle was formed, but it was flipped bristle-side-up for the sabino to identify. Once this formality was done, if the mare responded positively, Sae would run the grooming tool smoothly across the horse's coat. She noticed a few patches of fur that were growing out, and was reminded of the coming of winter-soon, all the horses will have adopted a blanket of their own fur to protect them from the cold elements.
LaLoone enjoyed being brushed her best memories were being brushed by a soft handed groomer in one of the stables she was brought to. She rubbed her nose enthusiastically on the bristles. The scratching feeling felt good and she started to playfully nibble the bristles. She started to rub her head against the brush letting out a grunt of pleasure scratching the pesky parasites that had nested on her body.
Saera, both relieved and amused by the Arabian's reaction, groomed with more enthusiasm than before. She'd soon unearthed all the pale, caked dirt, and moved on to a different brush in order to sweep off the surface debris. Her tail swept the air behind her, brushing against her wings occasionally, which fluttered involuntarily in response. "That's a girl," she praised the sabino mare. "When was the last time you were groomed, anyway?" She finished up with a soft brush and, as usual, took her time massaging her coat. With a click of her tongue she'd request Loone to pick up her front hoof. She was curious as to the make of her shoes, if she wore any.
