Regretful. Grey peltage twitched madly this morning. Reg's ears were pinned to her skull, nostrils flaring, and teeth slightly bared at the sound of barking in the distance. Tail flicked angrily, teeth coming close to snap at a few flying pests, the mare backed up into a corner. Grunting, she'd calm, as the canine's calls ceased. Ebony muzzle was dunked into her waterer, drinking down the clear liquid. Cranium raising, she'd prick her ears up at the sound of Sae coming, then nip at the fallen grain that she so messily knocked out last feeding.
Saera peered into her Regretful's stall, noticing the breakfast that had fallen from her feed box. It seemed a brave soul had entered her stall for morning feeding rounds before the feline had arrived. She walked to the next stall, where a handsome paint resided, and saw that he, too, had been fed and watered. The girl came a respectful distance from the dappled mustang's stall and stood, prepared for anything. "Hey, girl," she greeted her horse as a start.
Blazing Hearts paced around his stall, occasionally moving to the front where he would press his head against the blood red bars in hope of companionship. Then as usual, disappointed he walked back to the back and bashed the scarlet ball and lipped at the empty hay rack. At least the weather these days was cooling so standing around inside was easier for the skewbald gelding.Ears perked at sound of commotion in the distance, a canines call rattled through the late morning air triggering the stallion to move around the stall and then to the front again and momentarily catch a glance of Saera.
Regretful grunted, raising her head again, and tilting her head to try and fit her muzzle through the bars. Seeing it went through slightly, she nickered eagerly at Sae, then removed her muzzle from the tiny enclosure, and started chewing the wood.
Saera offered a flat gloved palm to Regretful for her to sniff, cautious but no where near afraid. Afterwards, she went to greet their new neighbour, whose face she had not noticed around the farm before. "Hey, boy!" she said from in between the stalls, leaning back slightly in order to see him. Her palm carefully came up to his nose, too, as a friendly greeting.
Blazing Hearts kept his ears pricked up as he sensed someone approaching again, it was the feline, flicking his ears back then forward again as she spoke and then pressing his muzzle against the bars and sniffing her hand, strange her hands had the scent of another horse and those strang hand rugs that the humans wore. Skewbald gelding would then lower his head and cough and shake his head before lifting it again, his mane a mess he lowered it again to shake it back a bit.
Regretful gave a nip at her hand, ears pinned ever so slightly. Head tossed, tail flicked. She stomped left hind hoof, then turned her rump to the door, swishing tail, and tossing head. She'd then start nipping at the jolly ball.
Saera gave Regretful a look, saying, "No biting, girl," sternly after she'd nipped her. Luckily, she'd worn protection on her hands today, knowing that Reggie deserved a visit. If she wasn't prepared, the nip would have cost her another blemish on her coat to match the few others from her horses. Saera didn't mind the cuts and bruises, but she did mind pain, like anyone else. Although she had a high tolerance for it, it added up quite quickly.
Blazing Hearts continued to press his nose against the bars, then backing up for about 4 steps and then turning around on himself and walking to the back of the stall, then along to the east wall and pressing his nose against the bars there he enjoyed the limited view of the outside world, moving along in time having to dodge the feeder at one point. Strange how only the facers and the performers seemed to get the homes these days.
Regretful decided to try and kick down the stall. Estrus mare was indeed pregnant dogy. She lashed out with her hind legs, then turned quick, and pushed at it with all her might. Hormones caused this mare to have a wanting for space, and studs.
Saera was shocked by Regretful's behaviour, as she hadn't attempted such a stunt for quite some time. "Reggie!" she called over the commotion, her brow furrowed anxiously. The feline would have to book a visit to the vet, to see if there was a medicine for the animal; she couldn't watch her suffer like this... though perhaps it was something else? Saera thought hard for a moment, and came up with the solution fairly quickly: the mare was in heat. Of course, that would explain all of her questions, but do nothing to help the situation.
Blazing Hearts flattened his ears and looked to try and identify the cause of the commotion next door.Unsuccessful he curiously walked to the wall, lowering his head and sniffing all the bottom getting the scent of another horse then lifting his head and neighing to see if he could get a big of communication with the horse next door.If he did not recieve a reply he would recall and then back up a few steps and whicker quietly with confusion.
Regretful whinnied loudly, bobbing head. Mare would try and go as fast as possible about the stall, then throw her weight into making the door fall. If successful, she'd trot out, and go flirt. "Crack." Not enough..
Saera stood in front of the door, facing her mare. After a crack sounded, the feline could take it no longer. She entered the stall. Her voice was strong and sharp as she ordered the excitable mare to stop. A lead rope was extracted from her pocket, and would be clipped onto her halter the soonest possible. Meanwhile, she stood in front of the mare's target with no signs of hesitation.
Blazing Hearts backed away from the wall and began pacing up the front wall, obviously bothered by the commotion and frustration next door.He would follow the north wall about 6 or 7 times before jumping into the centre of the stall and perking his ears up to hear the feline calling out he responded to run back to the front wall and whinny.
Regretful decided to keep lashing out, "Crack." Oh, how she loved the sound. With another thrust of her hinds, she made a hole. One should never judge a horse's strength.
Saera felt the wall rumble on her back as the mare chose a different spot to charge at. The feline move in front of the gaping hole, frowning now and a couple beads of sweat rolling down her temple. There was no use in her voice, as the mare was far past reasoning with. All the furre could do was hope for the best, and stand in her way when she could. It looked strange, and perhaps idiotic on Saera's part, but it was her last resort, here.
