Rapido trots around. People think of her as low class because she is piebald. No one seems to own her, but she sees Saera and trots over to the fence, putting her head over it.
Saera trod through the barn and out the doors, her pelt cooling in the brisk winds. She took to the lane and followed its route, hitting a pasture in which an unfamiliar face dwelled. "Hey there," she said to the gray mare upon approaching cautiously, her auburn hair bouncing in a lively fashion. A friendly, carefree smile donned her features as she waited on the reaction of the pretty creature.
Rapido nickers and nudges Saera, as she hardly sees anyone else. She has thoughts of Saera being her owner, but is not too sure. Her big eyes gleam in the light as she looks at Saera, wondering why she actually wants to say hi.
Saera felt it safe to extract and offer a peppermint from her pocket. She was sure to hold her palm flat, her thumb safe from the horse's teeth. If she'd take it, the feline would move on to scratch her nose gently and with affection, clicking her tongue softly in praise.
Rapido eats the peppermint with huge happiness. She then knows in her heart Saera is a true friend. She neighs as if she is saying thankyou. She doesn't know how to tell Saera that she wants her to be her owner. She points with her nose to a furre on a tin can on the floor, then her tail swishes onto herself.
Saera moves her hand onto her neck, which she gave a good pat. If all this went well, the girl would enter the pasture herself, taking the grooming kit she'd set down with her. She watched as the horse tried to communicated something with her, but the translation formed a blank in her mind. Nonetheless, she picked up her curry comb and hung her blanket on the fence, where it swayed in the breeze just slightly. Saera began to groom her with the comb, massaging her gray coat in circular motions.
Rapido loves this new sensation that humans call "Grooming." She bares her teeth as if smiling and gently nickers. Rapido points once again to Saera and then to a horse in the distance and her tail sweeps over her loins again.
Saera giggles at the mare's reaction, shaking her head with a smile. Having finished with all three brushes now, she moved onto the hoof pick. Very carefully, she picks up on hoof at a time to clean. Swiping her hands together to shake the dirt, the feline looked up while her arm dabbed her forehead. "What are you trying to say, girl?" The girl wondered aloud.
Rapido neighs and points to Saera, picks up a little furre doll she finds on the floor that looks like Saera, places it on her back and piaffes.
Saera's brow was furrowed as she watched the mare piaffe in front of her. She plucked the oddly familiar doll from her back, the meaning of the horse's actions kicking in. "You want to go for a ride?" she inquired, her brows now high on her forehead. "If you say so." She clipped a lead rope on the Paint's halter, and escorted the girl into the barn where she'd gather the equipment.
Rapido starts to piaffe. She gently nickers and does a levade, gently rising off the ground and keeping her balance. Rapido awaits commands from Saera.
Saera brings out the said equipment, first placing the blanket on her withers and smoothing it behind them as not to pull a hair in the wrong direction, making it uncomfortable for the mare. She then equips her with the brown leather saddle, leaving the tightening of the girth for when they'd reach the pasture. Lastly, she offered the bit to the horse's mouth, which-- if not accepted gracefully-- would be gently pried under her tongue. Once they were set, Saera undid the cross ties and led the mare to a riding arena.
Rapido waits for Saera to ask for a gait. She slowly halts and nickers loudly. She paws the ground. She seems excited and her mane blows around in the wind.
Saera mounts expertly after tightening the girth properly, and adjusting the stirrups to her height. She gathered the reins fairly tight, and pressed her heels gently again the mare's flank to transition into a walk. The feline would continue at this pace for a turn of the arena and then ask for a trot with merely her heels. Saera would have to get accustomed with the horse's sensitivity before seriously working with her.
Rapido snorts, and seemed to have enjoyed the trot. She pawed the ground again, and felt a rush of love for Saera. No one had ever been this nice to her. She wonders who will buy her. Rapido starts to devour a bush, and neighs in delight.
Saera was startled by their sudden halt, and gently put with authority asks the mare to veer away from the foliage. Her tone of voice would say without words that it was not good to have a snack during rides. Her left heel squeezed the horse's pelt to steer them away from the sidelines.
Rapido starts to wonder. She wonders if Saera will canter her. She slowly moves into a trot again with a big rush of pure happiness.
Saera, as if on cue, made the command for canter with a click of her tongue and correct movement of her legs. Her inside leg would move forward, outside back, in order to achieve the perfect gait.
