The Status Update got me thinking about the FSEA eventing levels, because several people mentioned perhaps doing a different level next time.
FSEA has a LOT of levels for eventing because it is modeled after USEA. There are 6 levels plus the four "star" levels (One Star, Two Star, etc).
I don't feel that we have enough people involved in horses on Furcadia to justify having ten different event levels. I want to rank horses and riders next season and I think doing ten levels is just going to be absurd. Not to mention, if there are only 1-2 events per month, and only one dream doing events, that means there will only be about two shows a year in each level.
The change I'd like to propose is to only have FOUR levels of eventing on Furcadia and they would be called One-Star, Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star, easily abbreviated as *, **, ***, and ****.
One-Star would be a combination of Beginner Novice and Novice and would be VERY easy, to get people used to eventing and familiar with the system. Two-Star would be a combination of Training and Preliminary. Three-Star would be similar to Advanced, and Four-Star would basically be Olympic level.
Horse and rider teams could choose any level in which to compete. This means if you want to jump right in at Four-Star, you can go right ahead. Or you can start at Two-Star and work your way up... or whatever. Once a horse begins competing at a higher level, they CANNOT go back to a lower level. Once you compete in a Two-Star, you CANNOT compete in a One-Star ever again. (Remember that this is on a IC character-by-character basis... I could be competing with Devonshire at One-Star and with Royal Assault at Four-Star at the same time, that would be fine.)
I think this would be a much more effective system. While the current system is more realistic, it is -so- realistic that implementing it without hundreds of people is next to impossible. Please vote above and tell me what you think.
